The SHINE Awards 2025: A Night of Hope, Healing, and Workplace Wellbeing

At Rainford Hall, we often talk about how connection and community can bring about positive change. That spirit was alive and shining brightly at this year’s SHINE Awards 2025, hosted by our Steps Together family at the historic Aintree Racecourse.
Now in its second year, the SHINE Awards are more than an evening of trophies and applause. This awards ceremony is a celebration of the quiet heroes who make workplace wellbeing and recovery part of everyday culture.
Lighting Up Aintree with Purpose
Over 300 guests gathered under the glittering lights of Aintree Racecourse for the UK’s first purpose-driven, alcohol-free workplace wellbeing awards. The evening was truly proof that connection and joy don’t require a glass in hand.
Guests were welcomed on a red carpet, serenaded by a live orchestra, and moved by powerful community performances from across the North West.
The authenticity that filled the room made the night unforgettable. It was a celebration of the progress of businesses, communities, and individuals committed to doing better for mental health and wellbeing.
Honouring Those Who Make a Difference
Hosted by Steps Together in partnership with Claritee, the SHINE Awards recognised eight incredible organisations that have made wellbeing part of their DNA.
Among the standout winners were Bentley Motors, The Inkey List, and Sobriety Society (BUPA), each honoured for their innovative approach to supporting workplace mental health.
Other inspiring honourees included AF Club, Stable Lives, Fedcap, Shoorah, and Ripple, whose dedication to kindness and care continues to make an impact in their communities.
Each award represented and reflected bravery and openness. It doesn’t matter whether they’re global brands or local initiatives. These winners reminded us that everyone wins when businesses ultimately choose empathy.
A Celebration Without Alcohol, And Without Limits
The SHINE Awards have become known for leaving out alcohol. Even if this isn’t common, it’s an approach that has made room for something more meaningful.
As Holly Matthews, founder of The Happy Me Project, shared:
“The SHINE Awards were unlike anything I’ve been to before. Glamour, integrity, and a delicious atmosphere that wasn’t fuelled by alcohol. It felt like a safe and fun space to be in, and I left inspired by all the incredible winners.”
Her words capture the heart of what we believe at Rainford Hall. Here, we believe that wellbeing succeeds in safe, supportive environments where people can be their full selves.
Supporting NACOA UK: Compassion in Action
This year’s event also raised vital funds for NACOA UK (The National Association for Children of Alcoholics). NACOA UK is a charity that provides hope and support to children affected by parental drinking.
As the evening unfolded, stories and pledges poured in. Guests opened their hearts to help raise awareness and financial support for a cause that embodies empathy at its core.
Josh Connolly, NACOA Ambassador, summed it up perfectly:
“If you think alcohol-free events can’t be fun, you haven’t been to a SHINE Awards. A simply incredible evening and for a great cause!”
Voices That Inspire Change
Throughout the night, heartfelt messages from attendees echoed the purpose behind the event.
Steve Jones, Deputy Chief Executive at Steps Together, said:
“It’s inspiring to celebrate the incredible individuals and organisations making a real difference in mental health, addiction recovery, and workplace wellbeing. The collaboration across the sector truly makes a positive impact.”
His reflection captures why the SHINE Awards are important nowadays. It’s true that every person who believes that mental health and recovery deserve to be celebrated.
Ella McCrystal, Psychotherapist and Director at The Northampton Clinic, added:
“Seeing the dedication to helping those facing mental health and addiction challenges was truly inspiring. The compassion and authenticity in the room reminded me of the power of community and the hope that real healing brings.”
A Shared Mission That Extends Beyond One Night
For us at Rainford Hall, the SHINE Awards feel especially close to home. As one of Steps Together’s flagship retreats, we see every day how recovery and wellbeing can save lives.
The event’s success reminds us that these same values are shaping workplaces too. The line between professional and personal well-being is thinner than we think, and nurturing one means strenghtening the other.
A special thanks to all the winners, attendees, and supporters who made this year’s event so special. Explore the highlights and full gallery at The SHINE Awards 2025 and discover how Steps Together continues to champion recovery and wellbeing across the UK.
